Moissanite, 925 silver, hand-set stones. Here's exactly what goes into every NOVAE ATELIER piece, who makes it, and how we check it — no marketing fluff, just facts.
Moissanite is lab-created silicon carbide (SiC) — not a diamond, and we never call it one. Its refractive index is higher than diamond’s, so it throws more flash and more color in the light. Lab-grown diamond is a different material entirely — pure carbon, crystal-grown in a lab instead of dug from the ground, chemically and optically the same as a mined stone. Two materials, two prices, and no blurring the line between them.
No mines. No digging. Nobody working underground so you can wear something on top of it. Our moissanite is lab-created, our lab-grown diamonds are grown in a controlled chamber, and both are made when we need them — not stockpiled. The only thing we take from the earth is inspiration.
Our stones start in a lab instead of a mine, so there is no mining markup baked into your price. Your budget goes where you can see it: more carat weight, bigger stones, better setting work. Same money, more ice. Send us a budget, a carat weight, or a look you want — we’ll show you exactly what it buys.
Harder than almost anything else you can set in silver — 9.25 on the Mohs scale, with diamond the only common stone above it. Its refractive index is higher than diamond’s, which means more fire and more color. Every stone we buy is graded to our own standard: D–F color, VVS clarity, cut for maximum flash, hand-picked under magnification before it goes anywhere near a bench. No cloudiness. No yellow tint. Just icy fire.
Lab-grown diamond is the same material as a mined diamond: pure carbon, crystal-grown in a lab instead of dug out of the ground. Same hardness, same fire, same optics — and graded on the same scale the trade uses for mined stones. Zero mining footprint. For clients who want the stone without the mine.
Every chain, pendant, and setting starts as solid 925 sterling silver — not a plated base, not mystery metal. Gold pieces get a thick, multi-layer gold plating in 14K or 18K, yellow, white, or rose, built to hold up to daily wear. No thin flash plating. The base metal is sterling silver and we put it in writing on every listing.
For heirloom-grade pieces we work in solid 10K, 14K, and 18K gold, and in platinum when the project calls for it. Your material, your call. We’ll source it, cast it, set it, and list the metal and the karat on your invoice — from raw metal to finished piece, you know exactly what you’re paying for.
Every prong, every setting inspected under 10x magnification. Stone must be rock-solid — no wobble, no gap.
Plating thickness checked. Surface finish checked under bright light. Any scratch, any unevenness — back to the bench.
We photograph your actual finished piece from every angle and send them to you. You see exactly what we see. Nothing ships until you say yes.
Lifetime complimentary cleaning and polishing. Send it in, we restore it to day-one condition — no charge.
Lose a stone from normal wear? We re-set it free. No questions asked. If a prong failed, that's on us — not you.
Ring too tight or too loose later? We'll resize it at cost. No markup on the service. Just materials and bench time.
Ask us anything — stone specs, plating thickness, gold sourcing, down to what the certificate says about your stone. We answer straight.
